Free car insurance quote? What is the best car insurance quotes & rates site to get free car insurance quotes from? Simpler the better!? I was wondering if you guys would be able to shed a little light on the simplest free car insurance quotes sites out there for U.S. citizens specifically?>
Tina replied: "Hi, I have been using and have been really happy with them. We have quite a few cars and I also take care of insurance for my children cars, and always use the site."

Online car insurance quote? My husband and I are looking for ways to cut back spending. We wanted to look for better car insurance rates so we looked online and got a quote that was considerably less (about 700.00 less a year) with the same deductibles and options we already have. My question is ... has anyone done this and had good luck with it? And does this "to good to be true" rate increase after they real you in? And what is a good company to go with?

breezy replied: "I recently signed up online with Progressive and it was significantly lower. It was easy and I was able to obtain all of my forms online from them. They did mail me an official copy of my policy. Right now I am pleased."

entidtil replied: "Be careful because sometimes these low rates don't last long. Typically, they raise them considerably after you sign up"

W>A>S>P> replied: "You did ok. "to good to be true" is only spoken by people with more money than sense. I bet you could save further, depending on how much you originally did pay. However you should check with your state's insurance department to see if who you choose to go with are licensed to do business. These are all the main American insurers competing to get your business so you might get a further reduction take the quote, they'll come back with prices from different insurers in your area. It's very quick and free of charge. Here's more from my bookmarks The key is to get many quotes till you can't get it any lower! Good luck hunting."

when car insurance companies quote your rates they run your name SS# etc.Where is the information coming from? I am looking to obtain a list of the accidents i have been in so that I know why i am being quoted so high by insurance companies. I am sure somewhere there is a Database to get this info. Is it linked with the DMV? I know you can get a list of tickets you have received but does it include accidents?

Lisa replied: "Insurance companies run your motor vehicle report which they get from each states department of motor vehicles. The program used to get the MVR is Choicepoint. Just contact your local DMV and ask for a copy of your MVR. Another report companies use is called a CLUE report. This is also received from Choicepiont. It lists all claims you've made going back about 5 years."

David W replied: "You can get that info from your state's DMV, but you may have to pay a fee for it. Here in Indiana we can do it online after setting up an account with the DMV web site. Check your DMV's web site to find out whether you can, and how. Your record may include accidents if they were reportable; it will depend on the state requirements. Many companies use a system called CLUE--Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange--to list accidents, and you can't access that; it's only for insurers. However, a company should explain its surcharges if you ask."

calipink22 replied: "Are you currently insured? If so ask your insurer for a CLUE report or LOE(Letter of Experience). Either letter will list all chargeable claims and accidents. If you're wanting to know why your quotes are so high ask the agent running your reports. They'll tell you whats on the report and give you a phone # if you need to dispute any of the information."

How to get a free rate quote for apartment, car and health insurance? I'm doing a school project for economics. Where is a place to get a free rate quote without giving out personal information such as your telephone? Or is this possible? What do you think? Thanks 10 pts.

mbrcatz17 replied: "Go to your parent's insurance agent, and just ask them for a ballpark. You can't get a real quote without personal info, as credit score is part of the rating criteria - so you need a ballpark. If you drive an old beater, and you're not in a major city, figure the car will cost you $1,000 a year for minimum coverage, the renters will cost you $150 a year, and the health insurance will cost you $200 a month."

Can anyone give me a quote or rate on car insurance for a Mitsubishi Evo. 8 & 9? Saving to buy one 8 )

driftz240sx replied: "Go to any of the insurance company websites. I like esurance.com because you can get a quote without having to enter your SS#."

DAVE F replied: "You can easily compare quotes in internet, for example here:"

Kevin R replied: "Well, you can use the insurance company websites... But if you are a young driver, there is a good chance that you will have a high rate at first."

Do I need to report a "Failure to Inspect" ticket when finding new car insurance? I just got this ticket last week, and would like to quote car insurance rates online. They ask for traffic violations on the online form, and I am wondering if I should report this? Thank you!!

urgirlcan2 replied: "yes. it shoudl be reported. its best to be upfront about it even if you don't have to be. because if they run a check and it comes back as a hit, then they can deny you insurance"

David W replied: "Normally, only moving violatiions (speeding, red light, etc.,) affect your rates, but not getting a required inspection could affect your eligibility for insurance; it would depend on the company. Bestter to put it down and not need it than to omit it and find out otherwise.."

I got a car insurance quote from State Farm that? is double that of the quotes I got online (from brokers). Is it better to go with State Farm or one of the cut rate insurance companies? I mean in the event of an accident and getting paid. I also rent a lot of cars and will be using the insurance I buy for those. And, not get the insurance that the rental companies over charge for.

Corky :) replied: "State Farm. They're awesome"

car253 replied: "I would go with State Farm. But I am biased because I work there. Ask for as many discounts as you can like, multi-car, multi-line, good driver, if your young for a new driver then ask for driver safety, and any other they offer. Ask how you can get them. And, if those cut rate companies offer low payments do they ask for a broker fee or a higher down payment? Sometimes you do get what you pay for. But remember, there is good and bad in every company but overall they are much better. And, if you rent cars a lot then ask the agent to add UNOC. Unlimited Non-Owned Car coverage. Some are not familar with it but otherwise your coverage only carries over to a rental car for 21 days at one time."

It's just me,Jessalynn replied: "Go with state farm, im with them and their real good."

entidtil replied: "You won't go wrong with State farm, Allstate or American Family. I shy away from companies that do not have a local office or an agent I can speak to directly. I dislike playing phone tag with a mindless voice located sometimes half a world away from me."

David W replied: "State Farm is one of, or THE biggest insurance companies in the country, and it didn't get there by being a bad company. However, it's certainly not the only good insurer out there. Check out and see how it stacks up with actual consumers."

banana replied: "I dont really know you so it's hard to say but if I have an accident it is 100% the other person's fault so it isn't my insurance that pays me but the other guy's. So I don't go with State Farm, I never did and I pay about $200 yearly. That's $4k I paid in 20 years. Not bad I think."

Can a car insurance company change there rate after a policy is paid for in full? Was quoted a rate which was agreed on and paid for in full proof of insurance was sent to my bank and car dealership. However, I had to back out of picking up my new car on sunday because I got a call from my insurance company late friday night with the end result of a new rate was 132% more than the negotiated rate the night before.

modlegend replied: "no. if you have paid in full they cannot then change the rate. the only possible reason they can do this, is if there is a change in the risk (eg. the vehicle or driver being insured)"

Ursugardaddy replied: "no its paid in full"

satheesh replied: "From the information you have provided it is seen that you have paid the amount in full and a proof was send to the car dealer for the new car. The proof is not an insurance policy. So if the policy is not issued they can technically say like this. Morally it is bad. If possible find some other insurer and make a bargain."

jkrd156 replied: "It seems that the initial quote was based on the information they had at the time. If they found additional information, they can adjust the rate with the risk that they are taking. For instance, if they found a ticket or previous claim from a few years ago that you forgot about, or a credit report shows something negative. If the neighborhood that the car will be parked in is a hazard or you will be allowing poor risk drivers to drive the car. Even if you have a poor risk driver living with you they can raise the rate. Contact the agent, see why the rate went up and eliminate the risk factors!"

mbrcatz replied: "Yes. That quote is based on the information you provide, and is subject to change if you misrepresented your credit score, driving history, or people in your household. Car insurance rates aren't "negotiated". They're filed with the state insurance commissioner. No doubt, the initial quote has been revised because 1. you had no prior coverage 2. your credit score wasn't that high or 3. there were additional drivers or driving issues. It's ALWAYS subject to VERIFICATION of the information you provided them."

c replied: "YES. When you get a quote for your auto insurance, it is ONLY a quote, and subject to underwriting. You obviously need to pay in order to start coverage, but the rate shouldnt change unless there are points on yours or another drivers record which wasnt disclosed. Now, if your agent made a mistake in the quoting and rated you in a way which he shouldnt have, then during the underwriting process, this could change your rate. You need to ask the agent WHY the rate changed, and get a valid explanation. There is not much that can be done at this time. You need to either keep that policy at a higher rate, or switch to another company and get your money refunded for the time that you havent used it."

Olga * replied: "If you purchased it from Farmers Insurance company than yes. It happened to me too. The Agent told me that I misrepresented my driving record (I completely forgot about $200 claim that I had 5 years prior to that) and refused to honor the original price even when I reminded him that I specifically asked to confirm that the price was "final" before I gave him the check. Some Farmers Agents do not want to run your driving record (they are charged for it by the company) and wait till underwriters do it. I spoke to regional management and they refused to honor it as well. As far as I know 5-year old claim for such a small amount should not have been even considered. I also heard from another Farmers Agent that their pricing fluctuates on daily basis and not guaranteed till policy is issued even if nothing new was discovered by the underwriter. Definitely ask about the reason for the increase, request so called "letter of experience" and if they are giving you a bogus reason complain to the State Insurance Commissioner"

When will my car insurance rates go down? I am a 22yr old female who lives in New Orleans, LA. I caused a fender bender one year ago and got an improper lane usage ticket. I got a speeding ticket for being 9 miles over the limit when I was 18. WHY ARE MY INSURANCE QUOTES ALWAYS AROUND $200??? When will it go down? I don't even have a car because I can't afford the insurance.

Bovice replied: "Probably around the 25 mark. Most insurance companies will lower your premium around the age of 25. Considering the fact that you've gotten 2 tickets, and have caused an accident, your premium is meant to be high. Be happy you aren't a guy, I pay $430/month and I have 0 tickets, no accidents other than being rear ended while I was stopped at a red light and I'm only a couple of years younger than yourself."

Samantha A replied: "There is a company in Dallas Texas that covers Louisiana. They are $60 a month for full coverage. I was 22/23 when I lived there. I hope this helps. I lived in New Orleans for 2 years. Great City. I need to come visit soon :) See my source below."

foxychick24 replied: "Accidents and tickets will stay on your driving record for 3 years. .... So the accident will fall from your record in 2 years (along with that improper lane usage ticket) and your speeding ticket should not effect your rates right now since this occurred over 3 years ago. Do you know how much was paid out in the at-fault accident a year ago? The amount paid out can effect your insurance quote if the damage was over $1,000 that was paid out for the accident. Also because of the fact that you are still considered a youthful operator does make the premium higher. When you turn 25 is typically when you are considered an "adult driver" (from an insurance perspective) and you should see a significant difference in the quotes when you turn 25 (as long as you keep a good driving record- no tickets no more accidents!). Another thing that could make the premium more is the coverages that you need. For example, if you are trying to get a loan on a car, you will need to have comprehensive and collision coverage which will make the premium more expensive than if you just had liability coverage. Also the year, make and model of the vehicle also play a factor in premium along with your credit! If you have bad credit, your insurance will be a littler higher than if you had good credit."

Amanda S -Insurance Attorney replied: "I agree with Samantha. I live in Louisiana and I use Landa. Good company."

mariko m replied: "For auto insurance the easiest way to get a low quote is do a car policy comparison. If you choose the same coverage levels, you can get an quick quote to compare against others. Use the same coverage area, auto make and model, mileage and driving history to make sure you get accurate comparison. To get fast auto quotes, go to and you can compare the major auto insurance companies."

What's the difference between dealing with a car insurance company directly or a local agent? I was with the same insurance company for 10 years using the same local agent. My car insurance rates kept going up every time my policy was renewed. I decided to explore and see what better rates I could get with other car insurance companies. Friends and family gave me names of local agents from insurance companies they used. All the agents quoted me really high. Then, I called a major insurance company's 800 number (not through an agent) and got the lowest quote. So, why do people use insurance agents? Is there a reason why it's better to use an agent?

a-mac replied: "I like using an agent because if I have a question, I call the same person or I go to their office and sit across the desk from them. I don't have to call India and then give up and research answers online and hope for the best. I don't like the way big companies dismiss the need for customer service!"

saloon girl replied: "In addition to what a-mac said; if you have a claim but you are unsure if it is covered you can discuss it with your agent without submitting it to the company. (Companies do not like this - fyi) If you call the company, and it turns out there is no payout on the claim it will count against you and you will probably see a change in your rates. Remember: you get what you pay for. There is one company that has an 800 number that I would be extremely cautious with..."
